A Message from the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance ...

Greetings!

We hope you will take advantage of this great training opportunity.  Registry staff have worked hard to offer a first-rate program designed for candidates for public office.  Registry members and staff look forward to meeting you in this setting!

Registry members and staff encourage you to take advantage of this exciting training opportunity, and we look forward to visiting with you as we travel across the Commonwealth!

John Rogers, Chair
Kentucky Registry of Election Finance

The Election Finance Training Seminars will bring candidates and their campaign staffs up-to-date on campaign finance laws and help them avoid unnecessary pitfalls. At the seminars candidates and their treasurers will learn:

  • Essential elements of the campaign finance laws
  • Duties and responsibilities of a well organized campaign
  • How to recognize a contribution
  • Expenditures that are allowed and those that are not allowed
  • How to complete the new campaign finance report

The Election Finance Training Seminars provide answers to questions such as:

  • How much money can an individual contribute to my campaign?
  • Is the money I put in my campaign account considered a contribution or a loan?
  • What is an in-kind contribution and how is it reported?
  • Can a non-profit corporation contribute to my campaign?
  • What does the disclaimer on advertising need to say?

Approval of this course has been requested for:

  • Continuing Legal Education (CLEs) for attorneys,
  • Continuing Professional Education (CPEs) for Certified Public Accountants, and
  • Continuing Professional Units (CPUs) for qualifying elected officials.
